Jewelry Designs – Something Old to Something New

I posted on Facebook about this and how it may be a good blog. I also have had a couple of responses so here goes…

For Christmas and other gift giving times, my mother likes to give my niece jewelry from her old stash, some of her mother’s and grandmother’st too! My niece is very into vintage clothing and jewelry so this is just her thing.

In this case my mother had found a 3 stranded necklace of pink pearls that were her mother’s. She asked me to re-string it into something suitable for Emily and if I had any beads left something for her!
Vintage Pearl Necklace

Overall the pearls were in pretty good shape and I thought about Emily’s style and what would best suit her and her age. I quickly ran to Swarovski Crystal bin and found some Vintage Rose 4mm Bicones that matched perfectly. I wanted to modernize it, yet keep a vintage feel. I did make it a two stranded necklace one strand of the pearls with some of the bicones in between and a second strand with chain and pearl dangles! Modernized Vintage! I want to challenge you, go find some of your family’s pieces of jewelry and see what you can do with it! It could be a simple piece that you can give another family member or for yourself! However or what ever you do, it will mean something to someone!

Send me a picture I would love to see what you did! I should have taken a before and after pic…but did have that much forethought! I made my mother a piece too, complete with a Vintage Spoon Handle Pendant I bought at a show! One project inspired another…I love it when that happens!

Now, where did I put my other Grandmother’s vintage Swarovski Necklaces…
